Double Belt Press (Atlantis)

Heavy-duty dual-belt dewatering for maximum solids capture.

Applications

Secondary dewatering of municipal and industrial biological sludges needing maximum solids capture and dry cake output. Especially for large-scale or demanding dewatering lines.

Atlantis is a high-pressure double belt press that can be installed downstream of a dewatering system, and is capable of increasing the dry matter content of the treated material by 6-12 percentage points.

The mechanical components of the Atlantis have been designed for heavy-duty application to ensure reliability and continuity of operation even when handling the most difficult products, such as industrial ones.

Filter cake from the primary dewatering device is collected in an integral hopper. The hopper level and metering speed is controlled by an ultrasonic level probe. The design concept is the same of the Belt Press but with sensibly higher applicable pressure, obtained by a pair of specially designed seamless filter belts which exert a high capillary demand, in addition to gradually increasing pressure and shear forces. The dewatering force is increased by passing the belt encased sludge over a series of rollers which decrease in diameter, thereby gradually increasing the pressure to about five times the normal operating pressure of conventional belt presses. The Atlantis is capable of increasing cake  solids by as much as 8-12 percentage points even on unstable biological sludges.
